Hey Hot Stuff.

I think I’m learning how to relax and add a bit of balance into my life, and this weekend was a prime example of chilling out, from a much needed mountain bike ride with a great friend, to dinner and a pedi with my BFF.

Learning how to balance and more importantly, de-stress before it gets outta control is top on my list, and I think it should be top on your list, too… especially if you’re in the process of creating a healthier you: more exercise, mindful food choices, and losing weight.

In the video training below I’ll teach you the #1 reason why you might not be seeing progress even if you’re doing everything “right”.

You’ll learn what I did this weekend, and what you can do THIS WEEK to start seeing faster results without so much effort!

Sorry to drop an “F” bomb there, but sometimes they’re necessary. (and sometimes it just feels good to say… You should try it) Most of the our clients who “are doing everything right” tend to be so stressed out about how well they’re doing it right… if there’s something more they could be doing better…. and then beat themselves to hell when they “mess up”… You MUST understand that all that internal turmoil and drama creates the perfect storm for your body to NOT LOSE WEIGHT. The stress response sets off a slew of hormonal responses to prepare your body to fight. Digestion and metabolism shut down, because the only thing your body cares about is survival at all cost. And survival equates to storing every extra ounce of fat that it might need at a later date.

Weight loss has more to do with creating a hormonal environment that naturally cascades to send your body into an almost effortless weight loss response. Bottom line? Your body DOES NOT WANT to carry excess weight. And if you gave it the opportunity (most people are so caught up in counting calories and freaking out), it would easily release the weight.

How you ask?

Decreasing unnecessary stress in your life

Being nice to yourself.. stop with the crazy drama, mama! If you’re going to go out and enjoy a big ol’ p.h.a.t. dinner with your friends, you’re better off enjoying every second of it, not beating yourself up, and then getting back on track the next day.

Move your body in a way that you love. Although I do believe not all exercise programs are created equal… sometimes just moving your body AND enjoying what you’re doing is most important. I L.O.V.E. mountain biking. It’s tough, but I love it. Do I love lifting weights? NO!!! BUT… I love mountain biking, surfing, and snowboarding SO MUCH… that I know my strength training regime is a necessary component to keep me strong, injury free, and on my game. (and truth be told… even though I don’t love strength training… I always feel like a million bucks when it’s over, so I guess I like it too!)

And if you want to know how to set your body up for the perfect hormonal balance to easily release unnecessary weight, make sure you check out the 30-day Clean and Lean Challenge.

In the comment section below, share with me 2 ACTIONABLE things you are going to do this week: #1 Something FUN and invigorating! #2 Something that will calm you down..

But mostly I’m excited to keep instilling these strong habits I’ve created for myself since I’ve been out here.

Eating in can be as tricky as eating out. Many of our Los Gatos personal training clients were raised in a meat and potatoes, pasta and pizza diet that is difficult to break out of. Especially when the whole family relies on you for food, the pressure of providing delicious food may take a priority over nutritious food. Hopefully they can be both! But it takes some knowledge and practice.

One of the biggest struggles our clients face is eating with kids. Picky kids who only eat cookies and macaroni and cheese can be difficult to deal with. Especially when cookies and chips and snacks are constantly available in your kitchen. It’s a quick fix for hunger and cravings, but little by little all of these things are holding your back from your healthy body potential. Something to think about is trying to get your kids to eat healthier with you. This may be a hard sell at first, but many parents report huge improvements in behavior and focus in children when cutting out things like sugar and gluten. Our Los Gatos personal trainers can help with you and your family’s unique needs and problems. If you’re going in alone then just keep at it. Build up your willpower. Say no to the cookies and just learn to put them down.

Eating in starts in the grocery store. If you are only buying for yourself then only allow yourself to buy the good healthy foods in the first place. If you only have fresh vegetables and no potato chips then when you’re hungry you will turn to something healthy. Don’t shop hungry! This seems like a rule everyone knows but not everyone follows. Being a conscious eater starts with being a conscious shopper. Double check ingredients; try whole natural foods and cook them yourself rather than living off precooked meals and frozen food. The internet has a wealth of healthy recipes, and these personal trainers in Los Gatos have put up our favorites on our site.

Learning to cook and eat for yourself can be a serious boon to your health and wellness. The more educated you are about food and the many ways it will affect you the more you can make informed decisions about what you put into your body. Not all of this information is going to come from a book or from articles. A lot of it is going to come from you. Be conscious of how you feel eating dairy products. If you feel bloated or uncomfortable you might have a dairy sensitivity and want to minimize you intake. Maybe you have a gluten sensitivity that gives you low grade headaches you’ve gotten used to or take aspirin for. Rather than adding chemicals to your body try cutting out the bread and pasta.

It is important to be aware of your body and how you feel. As personal trainers in Los Gatos we’ve seen it all and what’s important is that is comes down to you. Only you can tell what your body needs and try to give it the best. So shop with health in mind and start changing today. Check out our site, and maybe try one of our recipes today!

We know it can be hard to eat healthy on a mainly takeout diet combined with a busy lifestyle. There are several options, choices, and little things to think about when eating out. It comes down to where you eat, what you eat, and how much you eat. As personal trainers we know sometimes you just need to get something fast and easy, but there are plenty of choices in Los Gatos to keep you healthy and on track.

The first problem is where to eat. Naturally, it is logical to avoid the major chains. McDonalds, Taco Bell, Carl’s Jr.…. if these places are really important to you think of them as a very very very rare treat, and not a place to grab a meal. There are many places in Los Gatos that are personal trainer approved. High Tech Burrito, Andale, Aqui, and several other places in town offer high quality healthy options. All you have to do is choose those over some greasy (though tempting) alternatives. A great place to grab a wholesome meal is at the grocery store. Whole Foods Market has plenty of fresh and already prepared foods that can get you in and out and back to your day. Again, just make sure you’re choosing healthy foods that are nutritious, trying to keep in mind more proteins and fewer carbohydrates.

This rule applies to all of eating out. Try to cut out the breads, pastas and potatoes. Aim more for lean meats, beans, legumes and vegetables. In Los Gatos there are plenty of healthy options and lots of fresh wholesome food, so no excuses! Personal Trainers stay fit not only through exercise but also through a diet surrounding serious nutrition. If you cannot put your own food together, such as in the grocery store, but do find yourself in a restaurant speak up and ask questions. What is in this dish? How much is in this dish? Can I replace this with that? Can I get this without those? People are very receptive to customer’s needs and will make the necessary changes to keep you happy. This is good news for your body, which you’re trying to keep happy.

Finally, there is portion control. Personal trainers in Los Gatos know this can be harder than it sounds, especially when a large delicious plate of food is sitting right in front of you. It is also a process. The more you learn to eat little bits at a time the easier it will get. Then maybe you’ll eat half of your lunch and save some for a snack, or save the rest for dinner. Eating smaller meals more often is better for your body and your metabolism. We understand this can be difficult with a demanding schedule, but shouldn’t your healthy be a major priority as well?

So if you’re living in Los Gatos, these personal trainers want you to know you can eat healthy and stay active. Keep looking around town. Investigate new places and be careful when ordering and eating. The more conscious you are of your food the better the changes you will make for your health. Check out what we can do for you today.

Personal Trainers in Los Gatos are here to help you and answer your questions. Do you struggle to lose weight and get in shape? Are you constantly fighting an uphill battle with diet and exercise? Well there are several things you may not have thought of that can make or break your lifestyle change success.
First and foremost you need to invest in a good team. Be Fit has knowledgeable personal trainers in Los Gatos and group workouts that already establish the perfect support system for you and your success. Audra Baker is a nutrition expert who will work with you individually, and our team of personal trainers are all certified and trained to give you workouts with serious results. Highly recommended is to bring a friend or make a friend in the group. If you two work together to really go every day then you help each other create accountability and will see more results because you will actually commit to working out.
Something you may not have done in the past is keep a diet and fitness journal. You should write down everything you’re eating during the day. This will trigger you to recognize what you’re putting in your body. Things that may seem harmless at the time (a cookie here, a cupcake there) can be a real eye opener when it all adds up on paper. Personal trainers in Los Gatos can work with you on your diet journal to see where you need to make changes and what you can do to improve your health. You should also weigh yourself and take measurements every week. Again, slow and steady changes may seem discouraging when you want drastic results now. Stick with it and over time your paper will show you the real progress you’ve made, and help you reach your goals in a healthy way.
Once you’ve created your support system and are tracking your progress your needs should be met on an individual level. Talking to a nutrition expert about your particular needs and problems will narrow down the problem and we can find a key to success you may not have discovered before. Some clients struggled with weight loss for years, and committed seriously to working out but still did not see results. It wasn’t until they cut gluten out of their diet that they truly started to see their body transform and change. This may not be the change you need, but there may be something in your life you need to alter for you to see serious results.
So take some time to think about where you are in your life right now. What kind of goals do you want to set for yourself? Getting in shape this year? Going on a diet this month? Starting a workout routine this week? Once you get started how are you going to stick to these goals? Rather than wing it, create the support system for yourself with knowledgeable personal trainers in Los Gatos, getting in shape with friends, and starting a serious plan with accountability. It’s never too early to start improving your health and wellness.
