<li><span style="font-size: x-small;">Volleyball </span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: x-small;">Whatever games Katie and Chloie conjure up</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: x-small;">Chillin&#8217; and just enjoying each-other&#8217;s company on a beautiful indian summer day&#8230; does life get any better?</span></li>

<p style="color: #000000; font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Seriously, I would really like to see every single one of you there, even if you haven&#8217;t been to bootcamp lately (Having to take time off of bootcamp is NO excuse to miss the party!)  The truth is, I am so grateful to have you in my life, and this butt-kickin, body shaping, endorphin raising bootcamp wouldn&#8217;t exist without you and we want to celebrate your coolness!!!</p>

<p>While it is true my birthday is in this fabulous month, I choose to celebrate all month long.</p>

<p>All I have to say is last Saturday was a freaking blast.  Summer is all about beautiful days, hangin out by the water, and being around really great people.</p>
<p>We started with our First ever Standup PaddleBoard (SUP) boot camp which was a blast as you can tell from the video below!<br />

<p>The potluck picnic made it all worth it, and Kim Martin from our Willow Glen Boot Camp totally stole the show with her lentil salad.  It was off the hook!  She found it on Epicurious.com (love that site BTW&#8230;).</p>

<span style="color: #333399;">Lentil Salad with Carrots, Yellow Tomatoes, and Bell Peppers</span></h1>

<p>1/2 lb brown lentils, rinsed<br />
2 bay leaves<br />
2 cloves garlic, minced<br />
1 yellow bell pepper, cored, seeded and diced into 1/2-inch pieces<br />
1 red bell pepper, cored, seeded and diced into 1/2-inch pieces<br />
1/2 cup diced carrot<br />
1/2 cup chopped yellow or beefsteak tomato<br />
1/3 cup crumbled reduced-fat feta<br />
1/4 cup thinly sliced kalamata olives<br />
1/4 cup diced red onion<br />
1/4 cup fresh chopped parsley<br />
1/4 cup red wine vinegar<br />
2 tbsp olive oil<br />
3/4 tsp salt<br />
1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper</p>
<p>Place lentils, bay leaves, and garlic in a large saucepan. Add water to cover and bring to a boil. Turn heat to medium-low, cover and simmer for 30 to 40 minutes, until lentils are tender. Drain, discarding bay leaves. Transfer to a bowl. Add peppers, carrot, tomato, feta, olives, onion, and parsley. Toss to combine. In a separate bowl, whisk together vinegar, oil, salt, and black pepper. Pour over lentil mixture and toss.</p>

<p>We had Amy Hawkins, Joe Brown, and Kim Martin killing it in may with 14 sessions attended (great job team!)… with little miss Regan Albert coming in strong at 16 sessions (Go Regan Go!)</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>But.. for all the rest of our 80+ campers… it wasn’t so pretty.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Now… I realize that it’s summer.  I get it.  There are vacations to be had, things to see, places to go.  BUT… I would HIGHLY recommend that you GET YOUR WORKOUTS SCHEDULED INTO YOUR CALENDAR and then follow through like it’s no body’s biz’ness.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Summer tends to be the time for BBQ’s, margaritas, and ice cream.  Come September, I don’t want to hear how you’ve fallen off and feel like you have to start over.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>It’s not like you have to get all OCD to keep your body lookin’ hot this summer.  You can still have your cake and eat it too! (unless you are participating in the “I Luv My Body Clean &amp; Lean 30-day Detox Program”.  But that’s a whole different can of worms)</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>You’re going to counter balance the summer BBQ party fun by doing a few things:</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<ol>
<li>Get your workouts in (they’ll help you burn some calories, but also keep your mood stabilized and keep your “brain in the game”).  Put them on the Calendar and follow through.   I <em>know </em>you’re not going on vacation <em>all</em> summer…  Put’em in the calendar, and get the job done.  If you only have a few minutes… then check out our Workout of the Week and join in the fun by recording your results.</li>
</ol>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<ol>
<li>Keep your food choices smart 80% of the time, and then make sure the AMOUNT you eat is purposeful and small <span style="text-decoration: underline;">100% of the time</span>.  This trick alone will help you enjoy your summer in a very mindful, conscious way while still adhering to your goals.</li>
</ol>

<ol>
<li>Have some freaking fun. : )  Seriously.  One of the biggest indicators of weight loss resistance is S.T.R.E.S.S.  You need to get out there and have a little fun.  Beach anyone?  How about the mountains?  What about a nice bike ride to the farmers market?  Quality “tag time” with the kiddos?  Smiling, and laughing, and doing things you enjoy will invigorate your soul, compound your endorphins, and have a ginormous effect on your ability to digest food properly and assimilate nutrients to the highest degree.  And often times, when you are truly in the moment enjoying what is, your attention goes to the moment… instead of whatever meal or food is lurking around the corner.  If you need help in this area, I wrote a great blog about emotional eating.  But really… lots can be solved by just having some freaking fun. : )</li>

<p>Be Fit Boot Camps is proud to partner with Los Gatos Recreation to be the ONLY fitness company offering SUP Fitness Classes!  If you are looking for a fun way to get in shape this summer, StandUp Paddle Board Fitness classes are THE HOTTEST new fitness trend!  Each 75-minute session will start with a dynamic warm-up on land and a quick SUP lesson that will get you paddling in no time (it’s so fun and easy)!  Each class will take you out on the water and also on land utilizing the SUP for a full body workout that will challenge your muscles and balance getting you leaner, stronger, and slimmer faster than you can do on land alone.  When you take your workout over the water, your neuro-musculature system will have to work harder to keep you balanced, thus creating the perfect internal environment that challenges your body… but the best part is you’ll be having so much fun you won’t even realize it’s a workout!  We will integrate our award-winning fitness training while making each workout fun and unique, including exercises on land, on the SUP’s, paddling, and Kayaking.  (No, we will not be getting in the water.  We will be exercising and floating over it!)</p>

<p>In our Boot Camps you will do things that you have never done before! We will be doing many unconventional exercises with the goal of fun, teamwork, and community building. You will get a chance to work on cardio endurance, strength training, agility, and core building. Our creative exercises will tone up the muscles in your arms, legs, and entire body, as well as improve cardiovascular function and fat burning. Get ready for some serious and healthy fun!  SUP’s add a whole new and FUN dimension that will be sure to get you out there having a blast!</p>

<h1><span style="color: #333399;">The Juicy Details: Picnic Par-tay:</span></h1>
<p>Come for the fun SUP class, stay for some food, fun, and friends.  We don&#8217;t get all our campers together often enough, and I want to celebrate summer. : )  So we&#8217;ll be snagging the picnic tables close to the Boat Launch, bringing a volleyball net, some hula hoops, balls, and other fun family stuff.</p>
<p>Be Fit Boot Camps will be providing the drinks, burgers (beef, turkey, and veggie) and condiments, while I&#8217;m counting on our campers to sign up to bring some side dishes, desserts, etc.</p>
<h2><span style="color: #333399;">What you need to know:</span></h2>
<ol>
<li>If you are already a camper or have been out to our camps and participated in some capacity or another&#8230;then you need to be there.  I don&#8217;t want to hear any excuses&#8230;like &#8220;I&#8217;ll be in Hawaii&#8221;.  Just get there. : )</li>
<li>If you are part of our online community, this is an excellent way to get to know more about us.  We are going to be having some serious summer family fun out there and REALLY want you to be a part of it.  You also don&#8217;t have any excuses&#8230;.we want to see you. : )</li>
<li>Even if you miss the SUP class at 10:30, you&#8217;ll still wanna be a part of the picnic.  We&#8217;ll have our spot set up near the boat launch so we can play on the SUP&#8217;s, Kayaks, etc while the picnic is going on.</li>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>What we were thinking would be a Saturday workout filled rain and snow turned out to be a sunny, absolutely beautiful morning out in Vasona Park.  We are officially 7 weeks into our 10-week challenge, and this is notoriously when people start to fall off track, lose focus, drive and determination.</p>
<h2><span style="color: #333399;">I’ve been doing this for over 15 years now, and it’s a trend that as you can imagine, I don’t enjoy seeing.</span></h2>
<p><span style="color: #333399;"> </span>There are many reasons why people fall off the bandwagon and lose the focus that only a few weeks ago was so strong.</p>
<p>But instead of focusing on why people fall off, wouldn’t you be interested to know more about the people who stick with it, and succeed?</p>
<p>Over the years of working with hundreds of one on one clients and literally thousands of group clients, I’ve discovered a that everyone falls into one of these three categories:</p>
<h2><span style="color: #333399;"> #1:  Someone quits and never see results (for one reason or another)</span></h2>

<h2><span style="color: #333399;">#2:   Someone makes it through, gets results, but then shortly gains it back, or ends up back where they started (for one reason or another)</span></h2>

<p>Of course, I work in the realm of health, weight loss and fitness, but I’m sure the stats would be the same if I were a business coach, or if I worked with people trying to quit smoking.</p>
<p>Now I can’t speak for a business coach, but I can tell you that in my 15+ years of experience helping clients reach their weight loss and fitness goals, I have discovered the qualities those folks have in order to succeed for good.</p>

<h1><span style="color: #333399;">DETAILS!</span></h1>
<h1><span style="color: #333399;">JONES TRAIL HIKE: 8:30AM</span></h1>
<ul>
<li>We&#8217;ll meet at the start of the trail&#8230;it&#8217;s called &#8220;Novitiate Park&#8221;&#8230;.and we will get started RIGHT AWAY.  Directions are below.   Make sure to <strong>arrive early</strong> with plenty of time to find parking!  You could park in down town LG and just walk up to the start, or if you get there early enough, you could park on Jones Road if there&#8217;s still parking available.  And with all that said&#8230;I am <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>HIGHLY ENCOURAGING YOU TO CARPOOL! </strong></span>Parking could be tough.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>We&#8217;ll all start together as a group, but eventually we will split off into smaller groups, so don&#8217;t feel that you have to go faster or slower than you want.  It&#8217;s <em>your hike! </em>And with that said, everyone will go at their own pace.  Your boot camp coaches will be dispersed throughout, but you may not even see us depending on how we get split up.</li>
<li>We will have extra maps, signs out with arrows directing you the way to go, and a HUGE group&#8230; so if you aren&#8217;t sure where to go&#8230;just watch the people in front of you!</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>The Hike is about 3 miles (I think&#8230;it could be less).  We’ll be going up hill (with flat areas) until we get to the top (30-50 min if you walk the whole thing), then we’ll loop it around and head back down (much less time on the way down)</li>
</ul>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #333399;">APPROXIMATE TIMES TO COMPLETION:</span><br />
</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>About an hour:</strong> if you walk the whole thing at a reasonable pace, and walk/shuffle/jog a little on the way down.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><strong>A little under an hour: </strong> if you walk fast uphill and jog the flat parts, and then jog most of the way down.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><strong>A little over an hour: </strong>If you walk the whole thing at a reasonable pace</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><strong>About an hour and a half: </strong>If you walk slowly and take lots of breaks.</li>
</ul>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="color: #333399;"><strong>WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW</strong></span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<ul>
<li>Bring water and you better eat or I’ll have to open up a can of whip *&amp;^*&amp;.  Seriously.  We&#8217;re not bringing juice boxes.  Plan accordingly.  (read:  cappuccino does not equal breakfast)</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Don&#8217;t bring a mat.</li>
<li>If you want to bring &#8220;stuff&#8221; with you (wallet/cell phone/50lb weights to make it harder ( &#8211; : /etc), I would recommend putting it all in a small backpack.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>It should be a beautiful day, so dress appropriately and wear appropriate shoes.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>If you&#8217;ve never hiked up Jones Trail, you&#8217;re in for a treat.  It&#8217;s a great heart-pumping hike (at least the first half which is uphill&#8230;), and you don&#8217;t have to drive all the way to the mountains to get a little close to nature.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong><span style="color: #333399;">DIRECTIONS TO THE START OF ST. JOSEPHS HILL HIKE:</span><br />
</strong></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>FROM ANY HIGHWAY AROUND LOS GATOS, get on HWY 17 going toward Los Gatos:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Take the Los Gatos, Hwy 9 Exit (</strong>this will put you on hwy 9)</li>
<li><strong>Turn LEFT on University Ave.  Go until it dead-ends into Main Street.</strong></li>
<li><strong>Turn LEFT on Main Street. (***you might choose to park down here and walk up to the start of the trail***)</strong></li>
<li><strong>Turn RIGHT on College Ave. (There&#8217;s only one way you can turn on College ave.)</strong></li>
<li><strong>College ave. will veer right, go up, and veer left.<br />
</strong></li>
<li><strong>Turn RIGHT on Jones Road.  Jones road will DEAD END into Novitiate Park where we will meet.</strong></li>
<li><strong>You can attempt to park on Jones Road if you get there early enough, but you might be parking a little further down and walking into the park.  PARKING IS LIMITED, so carpool or remember:  it&#8217;s not a bad idea to park in town somewhere and just walk up College ave to Jones road and meet us at Novitiate park.</strong></li>
