This Week's Success Story: Anna James

When Anna joined bootcamp, she was very clear on the changes that she wanted to make when it came to her health. With two children to take care of, Anna wanted to have the energy to keep up with them and to get back into great shape.

Anna and Audra Talk About Her Success at the YBBC Celebration on April 17th

She explained that going to the gym and doing the same old treadmill routines were just not working for her anymore. She simply wasn’t seeing results.

After just a few weeks in bootcamp, here’s what she had to say:

“Going to bootcamp began to shape so many more muscles than I ever knew existed! The weight loss and physical improvements that occured were changes that I didn’t think could happen. I started to feel stronger, more lively, and more energetic with my children. I was also eating healthier than ever before which gave me an amazing sense of satisfaction and clarity.”

By the end of the 12-week “Your Best Body Challenge,” Anna had lost over 25 lbs. (25.6 to be exact!) and has done a complete 180 in terms of her body shape, energy level, and lifestyle. Instead of meeting up with friends for cocktails, she’s inviting people to go hiking and spend time outdoors being active.

As for her “old” life?

“I will never go back to the poor food choices I was making, the lack of exercise, and my life has truly changed.”

She’s one of the most energetic of our early-morning bootcampers and says that she misses those 6:00 a.m. classes when she can’t go.

“I enjoy just being there, doing such wonderful things for my body and sharing the experiences with people who want the same things and live active and healthy lifestyles. I feel like I am finally seeing the person that I have wanted to be.”

Los Gatos PushUps for Charity

With less than two weeks to go before the big event, everyone is getting excited to raise some money for a very worthy cause!

I promise it won't be this hard!

But I must dispel a few myths right now.

There are a few of my very close Bootcampers who are totally dogging out of participating in this event. The reason they are giving?

They’re intimidated!

I can’t believe it!

How Have I done that? How have I created a charity event that feels intimidating?

  • Running a marathon for charity seems intimidating to me.

  • Riding my bike from San Francisco to L.A. for charity seems intimidating.

  • Walking THREE DAYS STRAIGHT for charity seems intimidating.

But 90 seconds of pushups? I’m totally confused.

I actually thought this would be the least intimidating of all! Even if you’re totally out of shape, wrapping your mind around 90 seconds of just about anything seems more doable than a freaking marathon!

So because it seems some people are intimidated, I would like to get clear and share with you EXACTLY what will happen on April 17th at 9am.

  • 9am: Show up, meet and greet, get excited. You’ll receive your pushup card, a pen so you can record your number.

  • 9:05am: I’ll start the event with an introduction, and I’ll make sure to mention our proud sponsors.

  • 9:15am: Our world class instructors will take you through a nice dynamic warm-up to get your body warm and ready to do some pushups!

  • 9:25am: We start doing pushups! You will not be doing pushups by yourself!!! We will all be doing them at the same time! No one will be watching you except to encourage and cheer you on for 90 seconds!!!

  • 9:35am: You did it! You’ve helped raise money for a very worth while charity. It was easy and fun! I’ll talk a little bit about the charity, mention the sponsors again, and probably have some surprise goodies up my sleeve for everyone that comes!

  • 9:45am: We will announce the winners for the event: (some of the categories are: 1. Most pushups 2. Most sponsors 3. Most enthusiastic 4. Best excuse for trying to getting out of doing pushups 5. Most money raised 6. Best face while doing pushups

  • 9:55am: Get on with the rest of your day, OR stick around as we announce all the winners and give away even more really cool prizes for the grand finale of our 12-week Best Body Challenge!

So stop being intimidated, and come do push ups with us on April 17th! Click here to participate or to sponsor: www.LosGatosPushUps4Charity.com

I even made this great video to help you prepare for the big day of push ups:

We’ll be giving away over $5,000 worth of gifts and prizes to our very dedicated and transformed 12-week participants!

I cheated on Bootcamp!

Yes.

It’s true.

Since we opened our Willow Glen 6am location, I have been teaching all the classes and haven’t been able to actually get to a Bootcamp class to participate.

Well, while our Willow Glen group is ROCKING IT EVERY MORNING (watch out Gilroy and Los Gatos…there’s a new kid in town!), I have been trying out different health clubs in the neighborhood.

Miguel wants a place to swim, so we’ve gotten all these passes to all these clubs around town. It’s been a while since I’ve gotten my workout on at an actual club, so I was interested to give it a go.

As some of you might know, I made my entrance into the health and fitness world teaching group exercise at the ripe old age of 19. So with some club passes in my hand, I just couldn’t help giving some of the free group classes a try.

Tuesday night:

5:30 – cycling

Bootcamp Rulz... Silly Club droolz!

6:30 – sculpting

(Both of which were favorites for me to teach…I loved it!)

Yes, I spent 2 hours at the gym (and if you include drive time, locker time, etc, it was closer to 3 hours).

Here’s what happened:

Okay…I’m not going to sit here and bash the classes. Because I did have a lot of fun. The instructors (although both were very very very out of shape), were funny, engaging, and entertaining to say the least.

But I can’t believe that despite pushing myself in the class, I barely burned 300 calories in an hour and hardly broke a sweat. I really don’t get it. When I used to teach, I would be DRENCHED! I also would feel like I got my world rocked with a great workout.

But not here.

And then we have the traditional group exercise strength class. The instructor had so many gadgets and props, I think she forgot about the actual exercises! I can’t believe that spent almost 3 hours total in a completely unproductive environment. Look people…I’m not trying to sound all important here, but I think we can all agree on this one: Your time is precious, valuable, and probably your most important assest! Yes? Well, that’s how I feel about my time, too.

Here’s what I mean:

If my goal is to lean out, get in shape, change my body and increase my fitness…AND I can do it in less than an hour…why would I waste almost 3 hours in very unproductive formats of exercise? I just don’t get it!

I don’t know. I think Bootcamp has spoiled me.

I love Bootcamp!!!

I love Bootcamp!!!

The workouts actually challenge me. The instructors know your weaknesses and strengths and know how to push you just the right way to get you motivated and moving past your limits. You actually get results.

I think I’ve moved into a new era of my life. Goodbye silly club workouts and HELLO Get-my-butt-into-serious-shape-Red-Shift-Bootcamp-Training-Sessions!!!

See you out there.

Audra : )

P.S. If you haven’t already signed up for bootcamp, you can do it here!!!

PPS…you know what I’m talking about. Getting real results faster than anything else out there. I wasted my time Tuesday night. Now you don’t have to. Join Bootcamp Today!
