Be Fit Boot Camps

3rd ANNUAL

END-OF-SUMMER

BBQ PARTY!

Saturday, September 24th, 12:00pm

Hello Party People!!!

It’s no surprise that I get all bummed out about this time of the year because I love summer so much.  So I’ve come up with THE BEST medicine that always cures my post-summer blues:  Here’s what the medicine looks like:

  • A relaxed, fun BBQ party at Vasona Park (near the boat dock)
  • A fun potluck where we can all share our food and company
  • Hanging out with our Be Fit Members and their friends and family (who happen to be the coolest people on earth!)
  • Creating community and connection
  • Stand Up Paddleboard fun
  • Volleyball
  • Whatever games Katie and Chloie conjure up
  • Chillin’ and just enjoying each-other’s company on a beautiful indian summer day… does life get any better?

DETAILS:

  • Noon to ?
  • We’ll be at the picnic tables near the boat launch at Vasona Park
  • We will be hitting Costco and providing:  Hamburgers, Turkey Burgers, Veggie Burgers, Buns, all the fixins, non-alcoholic drinks, and probably some other junk food (Sean’s going shopping, so no telling what we’ll end up with!)
  • If you can, please bring a dish to share
  • Fun Games
  • Volleyball court
  • Stand Up Paddleboarding (we are not offering a class, but we will have them out there for anyone who wants to play)
  • Bring your family and friends

Seriously, I would really like to see every single one of you there, even if you haven’t been to bootcamp lately (Having to take time off of bootcamp is NO excuse to miss the party!)  The truth is, I am so grateful to have you in my life, and this butt-kickin, body shaping, endorphin raising bootcamp wouldn’t exist without you and we want to celebrate your coolness!!!

So I say that’s the reason to celebrate!

We need a SOLID head count ASAP so we can hit Costco and plan accordingly.  So…check your calendars, cancel whatever else you had planned, and fill out the RSVP form above to let us know you’re coming with your family and your friends (or solo… it’s all good… we can be solo together!)

See you there!

Christmas in July!

First off, you have to know that July is my all time favorite month of the year and I have lovingly renamed it “Audrika”.

While it is true my birthday is in this fabulous month, I choose to celebrate all month long.

It’s so much fun that it reminds me of Christmas.  So what better way to get you to join in the celebration than to put on a “Christmas in July Contest”?

Because for my birthday I would rather shower you with gifts of discounted and FREE boot camp.   : )

Okay…lets get down to the nitty-gritty-dirty-summer-details.

You get as many of your friends and family to join in our camps.  They all get a FREE WEEK, so it should be easy to get them out there to give our camps a try.

For every one of your friends, family, co-workers (or strangers you meet in a coffee shop) that you get to join our Be Fit Family, YOU will get between 25-100% off your next month!

And whoever brings in the most friends who join will in a 3-month membership to our killer Be Fit Boot Camp Program.

Does it get better than this?  You are giving the gift of health and fitness to the people closest to you, and I’m giving you a phatty discount on your favorite camp.  : )  And the possibility to win a 3-month membership!

It definitely sounds like Christmas in July to me!

To get you crackin’ and to make it as easy as possible on you, I’ll be passing out gift cards for you to hand out to your peeps.  All they have to do is give me a call to set up their free week.  And that’s it!  If after their free week they decide to join, YOU reap the rewards!

Okay…here’s the fine print:

One friend signs up = 25% off your next month.
Two friends sign up =  50% off your next month.
Three (or more) friends sign up = 100% off your next month.

There are no limits to how many friends you bring in or discounts you get.  Just keep ‘em coming. : )  AND… if you happen to be the one who brings in the most… you ALSO get our coveted 3-month membership!

San Jose Boot Camp Summer Fun

OMG…

All I have to say is last Saturday was a freaking blast.  Summer is all about beautiful days, hangin out by the water, and being around really great people.

We started with our First ever Standup PaddleBoard (SUP) boot camp which was a blast as you can tell from the video below!

The potluck picnic made it all worth it, and Kim Martin from our Willow Glen Boot Camp totally stole the show with her lentil salad.  It was off the hook!  She found it on Epicurious.com (love that site BTW…).

Lentil Salad with Carrots, Yellow Tomatoes, and Bell Peppers

You can view the complete recipe online at: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/232432

1/2 lb brown lentils, rinsed
2 bay leaves
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 yellow bell pepper, cored, seeded and diced into 1/2-inch pieces
1 red bell pepper, cored, seeded and diced into 1/2-inch pieces
1/2 cup diced carrot
1/2 cup chopped yellow or beefsteak tomato
1/3 cup crumbled reduced-fat feta
1/4 cup thinly sliced kalamata olives
1/4 cup diced red onion
1/4 cup fresh chopped parsley
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
2 tbsp olive oil
3/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper

Place lentils, bay leaves, and garlic in a large saucepan. Add water to cover and bring to a boil. Turn heat to medium-low, cover and simmer for 30 to 40 minutes, until lentils are tender. Drain, discarding bay leaves. Transfer to a bowl. Add peppers, carrot, tomato, feta, olives, onion, and parsley. Toss to combine. In a separate bowl, whisk together vinegar, oil, salt, and black pepper. Pour over lentil mixture and toss.

And to top off the great day, there’s nothing like a “Water-Balloon-Fight-Gone-Bad”! : )  It was Kelley & Shauna against Sean and it was hillarious! You’ve gotta check out the video for youself.

What are some of your favorite summer activities?

Your summer survival plan… Audra Style : )

In May out at Be Fit Boot Camps, I had a great idea to run an attendance contest.  “I’ll hook and bait my campers to get out there more often by throwing in some Cool Prizes,” I thought.  (Anyone else like massages?)

We had Amy Hawkins, Joe Brown, and Kim Martin killing it in may with 14 sessions attended (great job team!)… with little miss Regan Albert coming in strong at 16 sessions (Go Regan Go!)

But.. for all the rest of our 80+ campers… it wasn’t so pretty.

Now… I realize that it’s summer.  I get it.  There are vacations to be had, things to see, places to go.  BUT… I would HIGHLY recommend that you GET YOUR WORKOUTS SCHEDULED INTO YOUR CALENDAR and then follow through like it’s no body’s biz’ness.

Summer tends to be the time for BBQ’s, margaritas, and ice cream.  Come September, I don’t want to hear how you’ve fallen off and feel like you have to start over.

It’s not like you have to get all OCD to keep your body lookin’ hot this summer.  You can still have your cake and eat it too! (unless you are participating in the “I Luv My Body Clean & Lean 30-day Detox Program”.  But that’s a whole different can of worms)

You’re going to counter balance the summer BBQ party fun by doing a few things:

  1. Get your workouts in (they’ll help you burn some calories, but also keep your mood stabilized and keep your “brain in the game”).  Put them on the Calendar and follow through.   I know you’re not going on vacation all summer…  Put’em in the calendar, and get the job done.  If you only have a few minutes… then check out our Workout of the Week and join in the fun by recording your results.

  1. Keep your food choices smart 80% of the time, and then make sure the AMOUNT you eat is purposeful and small 100% of the time.  This trick alone will help you enjoy your summer in a very mindful, conscious way while still adhering to your goals.

  1. Have some freaking fun. : )  Seriously.  One of the biggest indicators of weight loss resistance is S.T.R.E.S.S.  You need to get out there and have a little fun.  Beach anyone?  How about the mountains?  What about a nice bike ride to the farmers market?  Quality “tag time” with the kiddos?  Smiling, and laughing, and doing things you enjoy will invigorate your soul, compound your endorphins, and have a ginormous effect on your ability to digest food properly and assimilate nutrients to the highest degree.  And often times, when you are truly in the moment enjoying what is, your attention goes to the moment… instead of whatever meal or food is lurking around the corner.  If you need help in this area, I wrote a great blog about emotional eating.  But really… lots can be solved by just having some freaking fun. : )

Speaking of F.U.N.  … If you live in the Bay Area, Get your happy-self out to our first ever Standup PaddleBoard Boot Camp!  All the details can be found here, but all you really need to know is that it’s going to be a blast. : )  Not to mention the fun picnic we’re having afterwards.  It’s all happening on Saturday, June 25th.  You’ll get the opportunity to implement ALL THREE party points above. : )

See you out there.

Overhead squats on the SUP!!! Crazy fun!

Be Fit Boot Camps is proud to partner with Los Gatos Recreation to be the ONLY fitness company offering SUP Fitness Classes!  If you are looking for a fun way to get in shape this summer, StandUp Paddle Board Fitness classes are THE HOTTEST new fitness trend!  Each 75-minute session will start with a dynamic warm-up on land and a quick SUP lesson that will get you paddling in no time (it’s so fun and easy)!  Each class will take you out on the water and also on land utilizing the SUP for a full body workout that will challenge your muscles and balance getting you leaner, stronger, and slimmer faster than you can do on land alone.  When you take your workout over the water, your neuro-musculature system will have to work harder to keep you balanced, thus creating the perfect internal environment that challenges your body… but the best part is you’ll be having so much fun you won’t even realize it’s a workout!  We will integrate our award-winning fitness training while making each workout fun and unique, including exercises on land, on the SUP’s, paddling, and Kayaking.  (No, we will not be getting in the water.  We will be exercising and floating over it!)

Your fearless SUP boot camp leaders... (except Shauna's a little scared of sharks... We assured her she'll be okay at Vasona Lake. : )

In our Boot Camps you will do things that you have never done before! We will be doing many unconventional exercises with the goal of fun, teamwork, and community building. You will get a chance to work on cardio endurance, strength training, agility, and core building. Our creative exercises will tone up the muscles in your arms, legs, and entire body, as well as improve cardiovascular function and fat burning. Get ready for some serious and healthy fun!  SUP’s add a whole new and FUN dimension that will be sure to get you out there having a blast!

The Juicy Details: Picnic Par-tay:

Come for the fun SUP class, stay for some food, fun, and friends.  We don’t get all our campers together often enough, and I want to celebrate summer. : )  So we’ll be snagging the picnic tables close to the Boat Launch, bringing a volleyball net, some hula hoops, balls, and other fun family stuff.

Be Fit Boot Camps will be providing the drinks, burgers (beef, turkey, and veggie) and condiments, while I’m counting on our campers to sign up to bring some side dishes, desserts, etc.

What you need to know:

  1. If you are already a camper or have been out to our camps and participated in some capacity or another…then you need to be there.  I don’t want to hear any excuses…like “I’ll be in Hawaii”.  Just get there. : )
  2. If you are part of our online community, this is an excellent way to get to know more about us.  We are going to be having some serious summer family fun out there and REALLY want you to be a part of it.  You also don’t have any excuses….we want to see you. : )
  3. Even if you miss the SUP class at 10:30, you’ll still wanna be a part of the picnic.  We’ll have our spot set up near the boat launch so we can play on the SUP’s, Kayaks, etc while the picnic is going on.
