IT’S FRIDAY!!!
We started our day with an AWESOME bike ride. I woke up pretty sore today, so I decided a nice session of cardio would be the best choice for me today.
I can’t imagine too many of you would just think to climb on your mountain bike to get your cardio in, but for me? I love it! I think the most important thing is to find something you love to do (or at least tolerate!)
Food for the day:
I must say that I had some serious behavioral changes today. By Friday, I’m usually totally sick of eating at home, stressed because I have so much work to do, and end up at a coffee shop in the afternoon with a sweet, caffeinated drink and sometimes even a sweet treat.
Not today.
I ate at home, for one. And then when I decided to get out of the house to get some work done, I headed for the library instead of a coffee shop. Amazing! For one, I actually got a lot done because it was quiet in the library (what a concept!) and two, I brought some green tea from home and sipped on it while I worked.
Seriously….this was big for me.
Breakfast: steel-cut oatmeal with 1 egg and 1egg white, cinnamon, flax (I ran out of prunes, very sad…)
Post recovery: Muscle milk
Lunch: big-ass salad (I was hungry) with left over curry chicken and broccoli crunch from whole foods. I added a ½ cup of brown rice to the salad for a better mix of protein/veggies/complex carbs. Very good idea to do after a long workout 2 tangerines
Snack: Green tea. Not really a snack…which would explain why I was so hungry for dinner at like 5:30pm!
Dinner: (at 5:45ish) A big bowl of my soon-to-be-famous turkey chili. It’s got so many veggies and legumes in it…it’s crazy! I swear the recipe will be posted asap!
Later snack? I don’t know yet…it’s only 6pm and I can’t believe how much work I still have ahead of me. If I get hungry, I might have some cottage cheese with a few walnuts, or a small protein shake (with casein for slow absorption). I’ll let you know tomorrow!
Just a thought….
A week ago I would have been embarrassed to write any of this down. My workouts were crap and my food was even worse. This has been a great week of getting my you-know-what together and in alignment with what is important for me. I hope it helps you do the same.
Looking forward to seeing how the weekend will go…it’s usually when I mess up the most, so…STAY TUNED!!!

Wow, you rock…! Those are some serious tough climbs on John’s Trails. Way to go Audra.
