Saturday Coffee?

December 5th.

I had every intention to workout today, but my body told me it needed a little break. It’s a new concept I’m learning…I’ll let you know how it goes. : )

Saturday’s are tough day’s because I don’t like to cook, and all the food that I had from the week is usually gone by now.

Coffee!

Decaf with no sugar please. hmmm....what's the point?

Yup…I had my weekend cup of coffee (if you forgot, I’m allowing myself a weekend break).

But…it was very different. After going through the excruciating headaches all week, I decided to go for decaf. And no sugar. It tasted pretty good, but it was a slight disappointment when I was still yawning after finishing my small cup. Oh well. Again, l’m guessing that listening to my body might be of service here. Instead of downing caffeine, maybe a nap would do the trick! The truth is that a week ago on Saturday I would have had an oatmeal cookie with my coffee, so considering the improvement, I’m pretty happy!

Food for the Day:

Breakfast: Steel cut oats with 1egg, 1egg white, milk and flax. Green tea.

Lunch: Whole foods custom sandwich. I call it the “Audranator”…and it’s awesome! It’s so big because of all the veggies, I can barely get my mouth around it!

  • Whole grain bread with a little balsamic vinaigrette
  • Avocado, spinach, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions
  • Oven roasted Turkey

Afternoon snack: decaf coffee with milk and stevia (natural herbal sweetener that I highly recommend for sugar fiends like myself. No calories like in real sugar, and no cancer-producing chemicals like in the artificial crap-ola.

Dinner: Yes. Left over clam chowder mixed with the left over corn chowder. Not the best choice, but at least it’s all gone now and I can clean up dinner for next week!

A note about eating something like clam chowder when I’m trying to lose weight: Yes, it’s true. It’s definitely not on the list of any of my 12-week nutrition programs. But, it’s all I had for dinner. Nothing else, no bread bowl, no dessert after..nothing. Just the Clam Chowder. So when you look at it from a nutritional and lose-weight stand point, it’s probably not the best. But from a calorie stand point, the bowl probably cost me 450-500 calories, the amount I would have eaten anyways to lose weight.

When it’s sweltering cold outside (and yes…I’m from Texas, so this is sweltering cold to me), I crave soup, so lately it’s all I’ve been in the mood for. Soup is actually a great tool for losing weight because of it’s high water content and usual low calorie density.
