Congratulations Susan!

Before

I started in late April with Audra’s Saturday bootcamp and a couple of semi-private sessions to work on form. I had some modest results and because I was feeling better, I started making better eating choices and imposed portion controls back into my diet. When I learned about the Fit Body Bootcamp, I knew this was my summer to reshape my body. I carved out a slice of “me time” in the 6 am hour and got busy. At the first dunking near the first week of June, I weighed 144 and was over 34% (to check actual #s) body fat. At the second dunking on 8/30, I weighed 132 and had lost 8.8% of my body fat. I also put on 3 lbs of muscle during those 11 weeks.

After

One of the biggest factors in my success was diet. I can still remember sitting on picnic benches under the oak trees, munching almonds and drinking coconut water while Audra gave us a nutritional counseling session.

Audra here. Since Susan is to humble to say it herself, I’ll say it for her! We at Red Shift Fitness Ran our very first 12-week challenge this past summer, and Susan was definitely up for the challenge! She won our first annual contest and now participates in our Bootcamp and nutrition programs FOR FREE for an entire Year! Congratulations Susan!!!

You have to check out Leanne’s story below… it’s nothing short of inspiring!!!

Kickin’ some Booty Leanne!

Audra Baker runs THE BEST boot camp in the South Bay! (Yes, I have been to many others and I promise you – hers is the best!) I have been working out with Audra for several months, and after 15 years of being almost 90 pounds overweight, I have now lost 68 of those pounds! With Audra’s motivation and expertise, I know I will lose the other 20. I now have muscle, tone, and strength in my body that I have never had before. Audra is a master at knowing how to get the maximum results for your body, and her knowledge of nutrition is extensive. She has more motivation and enthusiasm than anyone else I know. Audra has taught me so much about fitness and nutrition that I am totally confident that I will always have the tools I need to maintain my fitness and health. If you are thinking about how great it would be to get more fit (even if it’s not about weight loss) - just come and try it out. Audra will give you 100% of her effort and make every minute absolutely worth your while. You CAN do this! Come workout with us!

“I know you can do it! Come and join us!”

I am a woman in her 40’s who has cared about what I’ve looked like and has been in pretty good shape all my life, except for the past 5 years. My weight starting creeping up rapidly 17 pounds in 3 months and continued to shoot up to 40 pounds over the past 4 to 5 years. My body was not mine. I started not recognizing my reflection in the mirror. I was simply disgusted!

It hit me in December 2008 when my husband received a beautiful photo album of our Thailand trip we had taken with our family that past November. In viewing this 44 page album, there were only a couple pictures with me in them. I saw my grand daughter with everyone but none of her and I. My feelings were hurt and I was upset with myself. I made the choice to erase all pictures with me in them as I could not stand to look at my fat face. I was embarrassed at what I had become, over weight! I was very disappointed and had no one to blame but myself. At this point, I knew I had to make a change. I want the memory of my vacations with my family and grand daughter to be complete with me present.

January 8, 2009 I started my first 6 week boot camp class with Audra. Three weeks later I joined Audra’s nutrition class. In 3 months, I took off 17 lbs and in a total of 5 months I am down 22 lbs and continuing to lose. I have dropped 2 pant sizes and a ton of inches, my body has muscle and tone where I have never seen it before. I have 10 more pounds to get to my goal and am confident I will reach it.

I have taken exercise classes, hired personal trainers and even nutritionist before but never had these results. The difference I have found in Audra’s style vs others, is that she takes a hands on approach and becomes committed to your goals! She meets with you one on one to gather information about you and what your personal goals are then follows through and assist you the entire way to achieve them.

Audra makes you feel like you are the only one she works with even though both courses I took from Audra were groups. I could not have done this without Audra’s assistance. She kept me motivated and on track. When I fell off, she was there to pick me up! Today, I look in the mirror now and can’t believe the transition. If you are looking in that mirror and disgusted like I was, you too can make the change. Come join us! You will love it, I do!

Red Shift Boot Camps Client of the Month: May

And who has won our coveted Client of the Month for May? Please join me in congratulating Beth Morse!

Audra, Beth, and Mike

This is for sure her month. Beth started Bootcamp almost an entire year ago. I have to tell you, given Beth’s knee pain when she started with us back in June, there was a split second in time when I thought that maybe our Bootcamp Program wasn’t right for her.

Boy did she prove me WRONG!

Beth quickly became “addicted” to Bootcamp (as so many people do after a month or two).

We taught her how to modify the excercises that might provoke pain in her knees, and we told her that running was off limits. Now, some people would get discouraged, but not Beth. Instead of getting discouraged about not being able to run, she instead gives the fastest, most intense walk I’ve personally ever seen! I have to jog just to keep up with her walk!

After a few short months of feeling stronger, she decided to take it up a notch and tried out our RedShift 21-day “clean eating” plan. (Which by the way, is included in the Bootcamp program. If you are a member, it’s yours!)

That was just the jolt she needed, and in a matter of a few short weeks, dropped 14 pounds of body fat! Over the course of the almost year Beth has been a part of our awesome Bootcamp Training Program, she’s dropped over 25 pounds.

What I love about Beth’s journey is that it just goes to show you that if you stick with it (even with a bad knee), results REALLY DO HAPPEN!

That might be my favorite part of the story, but if you ask Beth, she will tell you something different.

“The strength and energy that I’ve received from this program is life changing. It’s almost unbelievable the strength that I have. Now, I do an hour Bootcamp Training Session on a Saturday, and then I go for an 8-mile hike. In my head, that’s just crazy! There’s no way my body could have done that a year ago. There’s no way my knee would be able to do it without this program. RedShift Bootcamp has literally changed my life.”

With her body strong and her knee in better shape (thanks to those new stronger muscles), Beth set her sights on doing her first race, completing 10.6 miles in Big Sur at the end of April!

After her success with our RedShift Bootcamp Program and training and completing her first race, she has set her goals higher still. To keep her motivated and focused on her new found strength and energy, Beth has decided to sign up for the Wharf to Wharf in July, and 2 other ½ marathons this year, including the Big Sur ½ marathon in November.

Congratulations to Beth for all of your success. You are an inspiration to all of us and we are so happy to recognize you as our client of the month!

Hero of the Week

Happy Friday!

Well, it was another awesome week of Bootcamp Training Sessions. The energy was high and the weather actually cooperated with us this week! As always, congrats to all the dedicated Campers out there who made it to at least 4 sessions this week.

In Willow Glen, I have a very special congratulations to give out to Janel. She was starting to miss a few classes in the last few weeks, but after a pretty important talk about motivation, she showed up to every 6am session this week!

So Janel is honored with our “Hero of the Week”

title.Congratulations Janel for showing up!

Congrats Janel!

Congrats to our Hero of the Week: Janel!

Sometimes….scratch that…most of the time, that’s really what matters.

When Janel said that she wasn’t feeling “motivated” (and heck…who doesn’t feel that way sometimes?), I had a few things to say about the feeling of motivation. Here’s my take on it:

Motivation is just something you feel in the moment. Sometimes you “feel” motivated, sometimes you don’t. When it comes to taking care of your body, your health, your life…when it comes to instilling exercise as a habit, the truth is motivation has very little to do with it. What matters more than motivation is your ability to show up. Your consistent action of doing what it is you know you need to do.

The truth is, if you want to change your fitness, your health, the shape of your body,or

lose weight…you need to show up to your training sessions.

Every time.

Consistently.

Motivated or not.

Motivation is not the key. Consistency is the key.

And do you want to know the craziest thing about this whole thing? The more you just show up…the more motivated you end up becoming! It’s crazy!

So if you had a less-than-motivating week, let this be your friendly reminder to…GET YOUR BUT TO BOOTCAMP!

MAKE SURE TO KEEP ME POSTED ON WHAT YOU’RE DOING IN BOOTCAMP BELOW:

1. DID YOU SHOW UP TO BOOTCAMP AT LEAST 4 TIMES THIS WEEK? LET ME KNOW!

2. IF YOU DIDN’T, BUT KNOW YOU SHOULD HAVE…LET ME KNOW!

Have a great weekend everyone! Get ready to rock it out in March!
