Day 19: Clean & Lean

I found this recipe on foodee.com It was so simple and delicious!

You can find this recipe at right here! I grabbed it from Foodee.com. I hope you are also using some of the food blogs, too! So many great ideas, you don’t even have to be creative if you don’t want to. On this particular night, I was in the mood for a different recipe.

I believe I baked the broccoli, which is probably my favorite way to eat it. First, drizzle a little Olive Oil all over the broccoli in a bowl and mix it all up. season with salt and pepper. pop into a pan and in the oven at 350? for 15-20ish minutes. I think it’s done when the broccoli is bright green with a little browning on the top.

Dig in!

What did you munch on today? Is this whole process becoming easier? What are you focused on… all the amazing foods available to you along with incredible health… or are you focused on what you can’t have?

I apologize for the lack of food logging the past week-family was in town! This of course meant lots of eating out, but fortunately, I didn’t even feel tempted to break the diet once. I was able to watch other people eat pasta, cinnamon buns, cupcakes, and other grainy/sugary items that I’d normally enjoy, but I didn’t want to break the momentum I’ve built up over the past few weeks. In fact, we ate out at Italian restaurants 3 nights in a row, and I managed (pretty easily) to stick to meat dishes. I had a few breaks: there was some creme fresh on an amuse bouche that I ate, and I think there was probably butter in one or more of the chicken dishes I had. Otherwise, though I recall OD-ing on steak on Friday, I felt pretty good about the whole weekend.

I have been taking antibiotics and they are really making me nauseous and foggy. I feel really sluggish and occasionally nauseous mid-afternoon. I am taking them in the morning and probiotics at night. I never knew how much antibiotics affected my system until this diet! I am considering talking to my doctor about getting off them.

Breakfast: 2 hard-boiled eggs with salsa
    Snack: Decaf green tea
Felt pretty awful so wasn’t very hungry for lunch: 2 carrots, celery with almond butter, took probiotics
Dinner: Mixed greens and kale salad with tomatoes, avocado, flax seed oil, Braggs, nutritional yeast. Ground beef with peppers in marinara sauce. Handful pistachios.

Also, I am excited to see that I look much leaner. I got compliments this weekend from friends who said it looked like I’d lost weight! I am still the same weight I was when I started the challenge, but I know muscle weighs more than fat, and I have put on a lot of muscle. I am very excited to see a flat tummy again. :)
